Job summary

City of Memphis, TN is seeking a Budget Analyst to coordinate and compile operating and CIP budgets for assigned divisions under the Budget Supervisor. You will review budgets submitted by divisions, recommend changes to align with guidelines, and monitor performance to project financial trends.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a related field with four years' experience in accounting, financial analysis, or budget forecasting; a Master's is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• Four years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or budget forecasting.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• High proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, financial software, and PC network programs and the ability to understand internal configuration of budgeting software preferred.
• Oracle and Hyperion financial software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and compile the Operating and CIP Budgets of assigned divisions.
• Review and analyze operating and capital budgets submitted by divisions.
• Recommend changes to division budgets to conform to prescribed guidelines and implement cost saving measures.
• Review division budget performance measures to support priority focused spending.
• Utilize complex financial software to create and revise documents, spreadsheets, presentations, graphs, and charts.
• Monitor division budgets against actual performance monthly and project financial trends.
• Assist with the preparation of Operating and CIP books for internal and external reporting.
• Review resolutions and ordinances submitted by divisions for conformity within the City's procedures and adjust budgets as needed.
