Job summary

The City of Bristol Tennessee is seeking an experienced Budget Manager to provide strategic leadership for budgeting, capital improvement planning, and forecasting. The role oversees annual operating and capital budgets in line with best practices and organizational priorities.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Business Administration with accountancy focus, 7+ years budgeting/financial analysis in a municipality, and 3+ years in complex budget development and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a concentration in Accountancy is required.
• Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in budgeting, financial and performance analysis with progressive responsibilities in a municipality or related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in complex budget development, financial forecasting, capital planning, and program evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, network, and related software.
• Master’s Degree in Accountancy, Business Administration or Public Administration; and/or a CPA, CGFM, CMFO, or CPFO with ten (10) years municipal experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for budgeting, capital improvement planning, and forecasting.
• Oversee development, monitoring, and execution of the City’s operating and capital budgets.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, department directors, and staff to evaluate financial needs, analyze service-delivery costs, develop forecasts, and identify efficiencies.
• Translate financial information into clear recommendations.
