Job summary

Electric Power Engineers is seeking a Principal Engineer with a background in Behind-the-Meter Gas Generation to join our Energy Resources team. You will guide senior leadership, coach staff, and deliver expert advice to clients across large-scale energy projects.

You will lead feasibility studies, design criteria, and technical direction from FEED through commissioning, while mentoring multidisciplinary teams and expanding service offerings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; master’s preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in power generation, utility infrastructure, or large energy systems.
• Experience leading engineering for gas generation facilities 50 MW or larger; >100 MW preferred.
• Strong knowledge of BTM generation interfaces, EMS, and protection/control systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead feasibility studies, generation strategy, and technology selection for BTM gas generation.
• Evaluate engine, gas turbine, CHPP/CGHP options based on reliability, emissions, lifecycle cost.
• Advise on sizing, redundancy, and integration with interconnections, BESS, microgrids, and critical loads.
• Develop Basis of Design documents, design criteria, and engineering standards for client projects.
• Serve as Owner’s Engineer or Independent Engineer through FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
• Review OEM proposals and vendor deliverables for clients.
• Lead technical due diligence for developers, investors and lenders.
