Job summary

WSB and Associates seeks an Environmental Project Scientist to lead Brownfields assessment, remediation, and redevelopment projects across the western United States. You will manage projects, develop scopes, budgets, and schedules, supervise staff, and provide technical leadership for site assessments and remediation efforts.

Strong client management, report-writing, and regulatory compliance skills are required to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred.
• 8–10 years in environmental consulting or related field.
• Experience managing Brownfields, CERCLA, RCRA, UST/LUST projects.
• Phase I/II ESAs experience.
• Strong knowledge of EPA/state regulations.
• Experience preparing QAPPs and regulatory deliverables.
• Experience data validation/QA.
• Project management experience (scope, schedule, budget, subcontractors).
• Strong client management and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license with insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Manage Brownfields assessment, cleanup, redevelopment projects from planning to completion.
• Develop scopes of work, budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and technical approaches.
• Serve as primary client contact with regulators and stakeholders.
• Support EPA Brownfields grant programs, including work plans and reporting.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with scientists, engineers, geologists, and subcontractors.
• Oversee execution to ensure quality, schedule adherence, budget, and compliance.
• Prepare and review QAPPs, work plans, technical reports, and regulatory deliverables.
• Perform environmental data validation and interpretation.
• Develop defensible remediation recommendations.
• Mentor and manage technical staff; allocate resources effectively.
• Support business development through client relationships and opportunity identification.
