Job summary

WJAC in Johnstown, PA is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee all engineering functions, plan equipment installations, and manage budgetary recommendations. Responsibilities include training and hiring engineers, supervising maintenance of IT and broadcast systems, ensuring software licenses and FCC compliance, and coordinating with corporate leadership on security.

Candidates should have at least 5 years in broadcast engineering, be able to lift 50 lbs, hold a technical electronics degree, and

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in broadcast electrical systems and equipment maintenance.
Experience training and managing technicians.
Proficiency in evaluating, troubleshooting, installing and maintaining broadcast equipment and IT systems.
Must hold a valid driver's license.
Ability to work flexible shifts including extended hours, weekends and evenings.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Technical degree in electronics or related field.
SBE and A+ certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee all engineering functions of the station, including planning of future equipment installations, requirements, and budgetary recommendations.
Manage training and hiring processes for engineering staff.
Supervise maintenance of computer software, hardware, and LAN applications.
Ensure software licenses and all software versions are up to date.
Supervise preventive maintenance and/or troubleshooting of broadcast equipment.
Supervise and/or perform transmitter maintenance.
Coordinate with Corporate leadership to ensure security and FCC compliance.
