WTEN/WXXA-TV in Albany, NY seeks a Chief Engineer/Broadcast IT Operations Manager to oversee Engineering and IT. The role blends traditional broadcast engineering with IP-based workflows and cloud platforms to ensure seamless live and recorded content delivery across platforms.

The candidate will lead and mentor a combined team for 24/7 operations, manage regulatory compliance, execute capital projects, and maintain high-availability redundancy. Strong leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Education and experience in broadcast, IT, and/or television production.
• Proven leadership in a technical team with 3+ years in supervision.
• Certifications such as CCNA, SBE, SMPTE are a strong plus.
• Strong networking, cloud, IP streaming, and A/V routing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Unified and day-to-day management of Engineering and Broadcast IT.
• Lead and mentor IT professionals and broadcast engineers for 24/7Ops.
• Hire, evaluate, promote, and terminate staff as needed.
• Develop staff knowledge of RF and IP tech and provide coaching.
• Oversee playout, MAM, video servers, routers, storage and IP infra.
• Manage cloud-based newsroom workflows and redundancy planning.
• Plan capital projects within budget; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with News, Production and other departments.
