Qualifications

  • 7+ years of broadcast engineering experience in television and/or radio operations.
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast systems, RF transmission, automation, and production environments.
  • Experience supporting Windows-based desktop and network environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across broadcast and IT systems.
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating vendors and contractors.
  • Willingness to work in technical facilities and transmitter sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day engineering operations for the New York market.
  • Maintain studios, master control, and routing infrastructure; support live broadcasts.
  • Support RF transmission facilities and transmission infrastructure.
  • Provide local desktop and end-user IT support for station personnel.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and corporate IT on security initiatives.
  • Drive facility upgrades, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Broadcast / IT Engineer to support our New York operations and help drive technical excellence across broadcast and IT systems.

Position Summary

The Broadcast / IT Engineer is responsible for the day‑to‑day engineering operations, technical facilities, broadcast infrastructure, and local IT support for the New York market. This position plays a critical role in ensuring reliable 24/7 television and radio operations while supporting corporate technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Operations
  • Lead day‑to‑day engineering operations for the New York market.
  • Serve as the primary engineering liaison to local station management and the Head of Engineering.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, technical diagrams, preventive maintenance schedules, and asset inventories.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation and respond to technical emergencies as needed.
Broadcast Operations
  • Maintain and troubleshoot studios, master control, production systems, routing infrastructure, and monitoring systems.
  • Support and maintain WideOrbit Automation and Master Control systems.
  • Support Zixi IP transport and contribution/distribution workflows.
  • Maintain AudioVault and Zetta radio automation platforms.
  • Support live broadcasts, special events, and remote productions.
  • Install, configure, and maintain broadcast equipment and associated infrastructure.
RF & Transmission Systems
  • Maintain television and AM/FM transmission facilities.
  • Support RF systems, microwave STL paths, antennas, HD Radio equipment, and related transmission infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair transmitter and signal chain issues.
  • Maintain generators, UPS systems, HVAC systems, EAS equipment, captioning systems, and program delivery systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors, tower crews, contractors, and utility providers when necessary.
Information Technology
  • Provide local desktop and end‑user support for station personnel.
  • Support Windows workstations, printers, mobile devices, and conferencing systems.
  • Assist with Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and user account administration.
  • Support local network infrastructure including switches, routers, Wi‑Fi, and internet connectivity.
  • Coordinate with Corporate IT on cybersecurity initiatives, endpoint management, software deployments, and user onboarding/offboarding activities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and escalation of network, server, and workstation issues.
Projects & Compliance
  • Lead facility upgrades, equipment installations, and infrastructure modernization projects.
  • Assist with budgeting, capital planning, and vendor management.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC, FAA, EAS, OSHA, and company engineering standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation required for regulatory compliance.
  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and technical resiliency initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of broadcast engineering experience in television and/or radio operations.
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast systems, signal flow, RF transmission, automation, and production environments.
  • Experience supporting Windows‑based desktop and network environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across both broadcast and IT systems.
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating vendors and contractors.
  • Ability to lift equipment and work in technical facilities, transmitter sites, and rooftop environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with WideOrbit Automation, Master Control, and Traffic systems.
  • Experience with Zixi, AudioVault, and Zetta platforms.
  • Knowledge of IP‑based broadcast workflows and SMPTE 2110 environments.
  • Experience with Cisco, Ubiquiti, Juniper, or similar networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, SharePoint, Teams, and endpoint management solutions.
  • Prior experience supporting television and radio transmission systems.
  • Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) Certification preferred.
