Job summary

The Maine Department of Transportation seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to oversee a portfolio of bridge projects within the Bridge Program. This role involves supervising licensed engineers and technical staff, providing engineering oversight, and ensuring compliance with design standards.

You will lead design activities, review major milestones, and mentor team members in alignment, hydraulic, and structural design for highways/bridges.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with two years of additional experience demonstrating advanced engineering science, risk evaluation, and sound judgment in planning, development, or maintenance of public works structures.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary and final design and checks for bridge projects across varying scopes and complexities.
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and budgets for construction of highways/bridges.
• Affix Maine PE seal to certify drawings and related professional work.
• Oversee and coordinate work of team members and consultants to meet milestones.
• Audit design scope for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with standards.
