Job summary

COWI is seeking an Associate Project Director, Bridge, to lead complex bridge projects in North America from our Oakland office. You will oversee delivery across civil, structural and geotechnical disciplines, manage contracts and client relationships, and drive profitability while mentoring teams.

You will bring 15+ years in bridge design, a PE license, and a proven ability to grow the California market through strategic proposals and strong leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; 15+ years in bridge design infrastructure.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain in California).
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multidisciplinary projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget and commercial performance.
  • Strong client relationship management including contract negotiations and risk management.
  • Track record of delivering financial and commercial performance and securing follow-on work.
  • Experience in business development and mentoring, expanding markets on the West Coast.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver complex bridge infrastructure projects for public and private clients, on-time and on-budget from planning through delivery.
  • Provide project management leadership across multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, geotechnical).
  • Serve as primary client interface, managing contracts, fee negotiations, schedules and risk.
  • Manage project commercial performance focusing on profitability and innovation.
  • Support business development and proposals, aiming to grow the California market.
  • Mentor staff and contribute to local office growth and team development.
