Job summary
The MBTA is seeking a Senior Bridge Structural Engineer and Design Manager who will lead bridge and structural design activities for highway and transit projects within Capital Programs in the Boston area.
As a licensed Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, you will supervise the Engineering team, perform analyses, prepare plans and specifications, and coordinate with operations, construction logistics, and external consultants to deliver safe, reliable infrastructure for the region.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering or related field.
- 5 years of bridge/structural engineering experience; 2 years supervisory experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (Civil or Structural) in Massachusetts or able to obtain within 6 months.
- Experience with steel, timber, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete bridges.
- Knowledge of temporary works, shoring design, and project delivery principles.
Responsibilities
- Lead bridge and structural design activities for highway and transit projects.
- Perform design calculations, load ratings, and prepare plans and specs.
- Oversee team members; ensure internal/external customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with MBTA departments, operations, and outside stakeholders.
- Prepare technical reports and ensure quality control/assurance.
