Job summary

MBTA in Boston seeks a Senior Manager of Bridge Load Rating Engineering to lead load ratings, structural design, and related evaluations of MBTA bridges to ensure safety for the traveling public. You will oversee junior staff and coordinate with procurement, legal, finance, and outside consultants.

The role requires a PE in MA or the ability to obtain within six months, five years in bridge engineering, and two years in supervision, plus strong analytical and communication skills and field-work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or related field.
• Five (5) years of bridge engineering and bridge load rating experience.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Massachusetts PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform bridge load ratings, structural design, and live-load capacity evaluations.
• Coordinate with procurement, legal, finance, and capital delivery departments; liaise with outside consultants.
• Oversee junior staff and assign tasks; ensure quality of reports and ratings.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
• Drive field and site activities as needed and communicate with stakeholders.
