Job summary

MBTA in Boston seeks a Deputy Director, Construction Management for the Draw 1 Bridge Program to manage design-build execution of a major railroad structures project. You will oversee project managers, engineers, inspectors, and consultants to deliver critical milestones on schedule and within budget.

The role requires coordinating with MBTA stakeholders and the Design Build Entity to maintain safety, quality, and environmental compliance across a busy rail terminus.

Responsibilities

• Direct and lead a team of project managers, coordinators, resident engineers, inspectors and other professionals overseeing third-party design and construction firms.
• Establish detailed construction schedules, work plans, timelines, budgets and resource allocations.
• Oversee construction oversight activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety and quality standards.
• Coordinate with MBTA and Design Build Entity stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Review and ensure adherence to quality and safe-work plans within Construction Work Plans.
• Oversee comprehensive schedules coordinating pre-construction submittals, field work, railroad operations and cutover activities.
• Manage testing, commissioning, outages and resource needs to align with rail operations.
• Represent senior program leadership on issues related to construction, design, quality, procurement, schedule and budget.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, safety and regulatory standards and implement NEPA commitments.
