Job summary

The MBTA Draw One Project seeks a Deputy Director of Bridges & Structures to lead the design and construction of movable bridge systems and related rail infrastructure. You will coordinate with senior MBTA leadership to ensure on-schedule delivery, safety, and adherence to budget, while guiding a large team of engineers, inspectors, and consultants.

This is a term-position tied to a design-build contract through early 2033.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or construction management.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in heavy construction within a transit environment with a focus on Structures and/or Movable Bridges.
Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
Demonstrated experience managing large-scale, complex capital projects with multiple disciplines.
Familiarity with MBTA operations or other transit/rail agencies and familiarity with FTA, FRA, MBTA and MassDOT rules, regulations, and permitting requirements related to project delivery and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

Direct and lead a team of project managers, project coordinators, resident engineers, inspectors, and other technical professionals overseeing design and construction firms.
Manage bridge and structure elements in accordance with MBTA manuals and policies.
Lead the management and reporting of Draw One project scope, budget, and schedule.
