Job summary

Tampa General Hospital's imaging division seeks a Breast Coordinator III to oversee breast imaging processes, track results, and coordinate follow-up care with radiologists and referring physicians.

This senior role requires strong HIPAA compliance, EHR proficiency, and exceptional communication with patients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely, patient-centered imaging experiences.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in breast imaging.
• Expert level knowledge of breast imaging processes, BI-RADS categories and medical terminology, with understanding of follow-up recommendations.
• Excellent knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
• Professional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey sensitive and abnormal results compassionately and clearly.
• Seasoned in electronic health record (EHR) systems, Digital Faxes, and scheduling platforms to retrieve, track, and document patient information.
• Strong organizational, tracking, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple patients, reports, and referrals simultaneously.
• Exceptional ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including radiologists, physician offices, facilitators, transcriptionists, and leadership.
• Assists manager by educating Physician offices to promote and grow the women’s imaging program.

Responsibilities

• Review, track, and manage breast imaging results and document patient histories.
• Utilize EHR systems and Digital Faxes to retrieve orders and maintain records.
• Review and assist imaging center schedules for order accuracy and prior imaging as needed.
• Contact referring physicians to obtain missing or additional orders as required.
• Communicate results to patients compassionately under radiologist direction.
• Manage scheduling of diagnostic/biopsy or follow-up imaging as recommended.
• Coordinate care with referring offices, facilitators, transcriptionists, and leadership.
• Escalate workload or physician concerns as needed and assist with policy development.
