Job summary

New America seeks a Senior Visual Designer and Brand Lead to own the enterprise brand system and guide design thinking across programs. You will set standards for digital and print assets, infographics, and publications while collaborating with colleagues to elevate the organization’s visuals.

You will design templates and assets for social media, newsletters, events, and data visuals, and mentor staff in branding while ensuring accessibility and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional graphic design experience with brand development.
• Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Experience with Figma, Canva or similar for collaboration is a plus.
• Knowledge of design-focused AI tools is a plus.
• Strong typography, layout, color theory and visual storytelling.
• Experience with Asana or similar project management tools.
• A strong portfolio showing visual design principles.
• Ability to translate complex policy content into visuals.
• Strong eye for detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Commitment to inclusive and accessible design.
• Adaptable, solution-oriented and self-motivated candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead on brand identity and graphic design for New America and maintain brand system standards.
• Provide guidance and coaching to Central Communications team members.
• Collaborate with digital content creators and inform broader communications strategy.
• Develop training workshops to build staff capacity in branding.
• Evaluate AI design tools and keep stakeholders updated on progress.
• Manage schedules and coordinate with external design consultants and print vendors.
• Design templates for social media, newsletters, infographics, events, and data visuals.
• Support product design for digital features, emails, banners, and assets.
• Create collateral for reports, publications, campaigns, and brand-building efforts.
• Oversee full project lifecycle from conception to final product and resolve operational challenges.
• Provide design support for data visualization efforts across the organization.
