Job summary

New America seeks a Senior Visual Designer and Brand Lead to act as the in-house design lead for its creative products, publications, and digital assets. This role defines and drives enterprise brand standards across the organization and partners with the Central Communications team to ensure high-quality design outputs.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in branding, typography, and visual storytelling, with experience guiding staff and external vendors.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of professional experience in graphic design with a focus on brand development.
• Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Experience in Figma, Canva, or other design-sharing tools is a plus.
• General understanding of design-focused AI tools.
• Strong typography, layout, color theory, and visual storytelling.
• Experience with project management tools like Asana.

Responsibilities

• Design strategy and brand leadership for enterprise-wide standards across digital and print media.
• Lead on brand identity, templates, and design systems; collaborate with content creators.
• Develop training workshops to build staff capacity in branding and design.
• Coach team members and support broader communications strategy.
• Oversee timelines, external vendors, and print partners.
• Support data visualization and design needs for digital products and publications.
