Confidential, a family-owned wholesale apparel manufacturer and distributor in New York, NY, seeks a Senior Bookkeeper / Financial Controller to manage daily financial operations and work with the CFO.

The ideal candidate will excel in general ledger accounting, full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll administration, and inventory reporting, coordinating with auditors, banks, and IT on Peachtree (Sage) and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years as a Senior Bookkeeper or similar role.
• Experience in wholesale, apparel manufacturing, or inventory-heavy distribution preferred.
• Proficient with Peachtree (Sage) and ERP systems; strong Excel skills.
• Payroll management experience with external providers.
• Expert-level knowledge of general ledger and intercompany accounting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily financial operations with CFO collaboration.
• Maintain chart of accounts, create new codes, coordinate ERP upgrades with IT.
• Prepare weekly management reports and track inventory.
• Process payroll weekly and semi-monthly; reconcile payroll data with GL.
• Perform monthly reconciliations and close; map transactions to GL.
• Manage intercompany reconciliations and monthly sales deductions.
• Prepare internal financial statements and monthly inventory reports for banks.
• Coordinate year-end close and liaise with external auditors.
