Job summary

Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. in Frederick, MD is seeking a skilled Boiler Operator to manage steam generation and distribution in the Central Utility Plant. The role requires a Maryland Grade 1 Stationary Engineering License and at least five years of related experience.

You will monitor boiler operations, perform routine maintenance, and respond to alarms to ensure continuous, safe operations. This is a full-time, on-site position with strict safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; foreign degrees evaluated for US equivalency.
• Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
• Maryland Grade 1 Stationary Engineering License.
• Ability to read gauges, meters, and charts related to boiler performance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces.
• Safety-sensitive position with random drug testing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Operate steam boilers in the Central Utility Plant to support campus-wide demands.
• Monitor and control boilers, cooling systems and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on boilers and water systems.
• Maintain logs of operating levels, adjustments, and preventive maintenance.
• Respond to alarms and provide on-site support during emergencies.
