Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Production Specialist III/II within its Performance Optimization organization. The role focuses on boiler/HRSG fleet engineering for gas, coal, and combined-cycle plants, including inspections, repairs, and performance testing.

The position is project-led with oversight of asset strategy and O&M programs. Responsibilities include technical support, outages, and fleet-wide process governance, with extensive travel across the fleet and potential international travel.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of process control, OT, electrical systems and rotating equipment.
• Experience with boilers/HRSG and NDE/NDT is preferred.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work non-typical schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction for control systems and major equipment problems at all facilities.
• Manage major maintenance projects including scoping, planning, scheduling, and supervision of craft employees.
• Coordinate and evaluate generation asset maintenance programs to improve facility reliability.
• Conduct periodic audits of QA procedures and implement best practices across plants.
• Design system modifications and document modifications to improve operations and maintenance.
• Coordinate maintenance/capital projects with plant and engineering staff and prepare documentation.
• Lead in major O&M and capital projects and liaise with contractors.
