Job summary

Alliant Energy in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks a Senior Engineer Generation (Boiler) or Senior Generation Equipment Specialist to maintain and enhance the performance of coal boiler systems within a combined cycle facility. This role blends technical challenges with hands-on project leadership.

You will oversee boiler tube reduction programs, coordinate inspections, manage energy piping repairs, and ensure compliance standards for coded welding while collaborating with maintenance and operations

Qualifications

• Sr. Engineer Generation (Boiler): Bachelor's Degree within an engineering program that is accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission. 7 years of related experience.
• Senior Generation Equipment Specialist: Bachelor's Degree Preferred. 10 years of experience directly related to Steam Turbine, Combustion Turbine, and Boiler, Heat Recovery Steam Generator or Generator maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex assignments with in-depth analysis to determine solutions.
• Identifies safety improvements and designs safer operating practices.
• Proactively analyzes problems and recommends customer-focused solutions.
• Solves complex problems using experience and existing procedures.
• Develops cost-effective technical solutions and documents recommendations.
• Presents alternatives and supports customer decisions.
• Supports higher risk decisions with proper sign-off.
• Mentors less experienced staff and interns.
