Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an experienced boiler technician to perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on controls systems for large, commercial HVAC boilers. The role involves troubleshooting, calibration, and preventive maintenance across gas-fired and electric boilers, with emphasis on safe and efficient operation.

The position requires 5+ years of boiler experience, a 4-year apprenticeship or technical schooling, and OSHA-10 certification within six months.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship or technical schooling.
• 5+ years experience in repair, maintenance, and operation of large commercial boilers.
• Valid Texas Driver License with clean driving record.
• OSHA-10 certification required within 6 months.
• Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with building control systems and preventative maintenance programs.
• Willingness to stand-by or work evenings, weekends, holidays.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair boiler systems and associated mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair control systems, electrical circuitry, deaerators, and related equipment.
• Use testing tools such as combustion analyzers and multi-meters to diagnose systems.
• Perform calibrations on instrumentation and drive units.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and perform routine maintenance and repair tasks.
• Monitor safety compliance and EPA regulations.
• Document work and manage materials and paperwork.
• Assist Service Sales with scope development, analysis and retrofit support.
• Assist with estimating time and material costs.
• Adhere to Southland safety rules and perform additional duties as needed.
