Job description

Cleaver Brooks Sales and Service is looking for a Senior Boiler Controls Technician to join our team in Dallas, TX. The Senior Boiler Controls Technician is responsible for wiring, firing, and testing boilers in the shop & field. This position ensures the readiness of customer equipment.

Essential functions:
  1. Wire all controls and motors for watertube and firetube boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  2. Rebuild control valves and regulators.
  3. Build and test control panels using engineering wiring schematics and layouts.
  4. Build and test fuel skids using engineering wiring schematics and layouts.
  5. Build and test condensate tanks and deaerators.
  6. Perform start-up of rental boilers in the field.
  7. Assist departments as required.
  8. Read blueprints and wiring schematics.
  9. Troubleshoot, fire, and set combustion on all types of boilers, including those with superheaters, desuperheaters, and economizers.
  10. Determine valve trim, regulator size and spring, oil gun length and size, and all other parts needed to fire any boiler.
  11. Fire and set combustion on boilers with pneumatic and electrical controls.
  12. Train other employees on boiler operation and controls.
  13. Maintain tools and monitors inventory.
  14. Apply creativity, judgment, and management skills to achieve results.
  15. Ensure duties and projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively.
  16. Support peers and management with projects.
  17. Adhere to company policies.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements:
Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years in electrical troubleshooting or a related technical background.
Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Mechanical and electrical background
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems without schematic support
Physical Skills & Effort:

Involves stooping, climbing, bending, crawling, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in confined and elevated areas, and prolonged standing.

Working Conditions and Hazards:

Some work in physical plant environments with safety precautions; brief unpleasant conditions; minimal hazardous contact.
