Job summary

Actalent seeks a Principal BMS Engineer to provide technical leadership for battery management across multiple generations of BMS platforms. You will own system-level direction, decision-making, and cross‑functional alignment with firmware, electronics, and software teams.

Responsibilities include defining architecture, leading safety analyses, and guiding verification strategies to ensure robust, scalable solutions that meet current and future product roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 15+ years embedded systems experience.
• 7+ years in battery or energy systems.
• Expert in BMS firmware and system-level design.
• Familiar with safety standards and DFMEA processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for BMS architecture across firmware and hardware.
• Define system-level BMS architecture, standards, and patterns.
• Lead trade studies balancing safety, performance, cost, and maintainability.
• Establish best practices for embedded firmware, diagnostics, and fault handling.
• Guide development of SOC, SOH, SOE, cell balancing, and protection algorithms.
• Ensure compliance with UL/IEC/ISO and functional safety guidance.
• Drive requirements decomposition, traceability, and verification strategies.
• Lead DFMEA, FTA, and risk assessments with mitigation plans.
