Job summary

Navitas Systems seeks a Principal Battery Management System (BMS) Engineer to provide technical leadership, owning system architecture and long‑term stewardship of advanced BMS solutions for lithium‑ion batteries across military, commercial, and industrial markets.

You will define system-level direction, ensure safety compliance, and guide cross‑functional decisions to keep BMS platforms robust, scalable, and aligned with product roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering preferred.
• 15+ years of embedded systems work experience.
• 7+ years with battery or energy systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for BMS architecture across firmware and hardware.
• Define system-level architecture, design patterns, and standards.
• Lead safety, performance, cost, and manufacturability trade studies.
• Guide embedded firmware design for real-time and safety-critical software.
• Lead development of BMS algorithms: SOC, SOH, SOE, balancing, protection.
• Drive V&V strategy, DFMEA, FTA, and risk assessments.
• Ensure manufacturability, testability, and serviceability at scale.
