Job summary

BetterHelp is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join the Blue Team and help build our security program while expanding personal security skills. You will assess third-party vendors, develop tooling, and drive incident response efforts in a fast-growing online therapy service.

You will work remotely across time zones, with occasional in-person collaboration in San Jose, CA, and travel as needed. The role emphasizes practical impact, strong attention to detail, and a hands-on, get-things-done

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Security Engineer.
• Experience performing security assessments on third party vendors and applications.
• Experience coding (Rust preferable, Python, PHP).
• Experience with MacOS and AWS.
• Experience in incident response activities.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of SQL.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security risk assessments of third parties, evaluating maturity and data flows.
• Build security tooling and automation for internal apps and scripts.
• Execute incident response efforts by identifying, investigating, and remediating security incidents.
• Enhance endpoint security focusing on EDR, application control and threat detection.
• Collaborate with DevOps on AWS security and vulnerability mitigation.
