Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Scientist II to support drug discovery and development through design, execution, and interpretation of biotransformation and ADME studies. You will apply mass spectrometry, LC-MS/MS, and structure elucidation to answer key scientific questions and guide project strategy.

The role requires hands-on laboratory work, collaboration across disciplines, and the ability to communicate complex data to management and regulatory teams.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Life Sciences or related field with 4+ years; MS with 8+ years; or BS with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong expertise in mass spectrometry, LC-MS, and metabolite profiling.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and communicating across project teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, conduct and report in vitro and in vivo biotransformation studies to identify metabolites and clearance mechanisms.
• Perform metabolite profiling and structural elucidation using LC-MS/MS and high‑resolution MS.
• Develop and troubleshoot chromatographic and MS methods, including radiolabeled assays where applicable.
• Integrate metabolite data with DMPK/ADME/PK data to guide compound selection and development.
• Mentor colleagues, drive innovation, and ensure rigorous data documentation and regulatory compliance.
