Job summary

Lilly’s BR&D organization in Indianapolis seeks a bioassay-focused scientist to advance potency assay development across cell- and protein-based modalities. You will work hands-on with state-of-the-art platforms and collaborate with Analytical Development, QC, Manufacturing, and Regulatory Affairs.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience in potency assays, mammalian cell culture, and engineered cell lines, with strong communication and project-prioritization skills.

Qualifications

• MS in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Bioanalytical Chemistry or related field with 0–2 years in pharma/biotech; or BS with 2–3 years in pharma/biotech
• Hands-on potency assays such as ELISA, SPR, and/or cell-based assays
• Mammalian cell culture maintenance including adherent and suspension lines
• Experience with engineered cell lines (stable reporter, knockout/knock-in) in bioassay development
• Strong collaboration across cross-functional teams and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis (no visa sponsorship)

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and implement assays to assess the biological activity of therapeutic proteins, peptides, and new modalities
• Transfer potency assays for QC release and stability testing to meet regulatory requirements
• Execute experiments, review data, author technical documents, and contribute to regulatory submissions
• Support bioassay lab operations including cell culture, reagents, and instrument qualification
• Coordinate with internal and external partners as part of cross-functional teams
• Evaluate emerging technologies suitable for bioassay development
