Job summary

Qualifications

• Read and interpret written work orders or other job specifications to determine machine operations and maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Calculate distances, clearances, and fits when combining bindery machines.
• Set up and adjust bindery machines and related devices to achieve target weights, colors, and finishes.
• Have thorough knowledge of one or more bindery machines to perform folds, collating and cutting.
• Understand paper stock quality requirements and adjust settings to prevent machining marks.
• Refine adjustments to optimize weight, color and machinability of paper stock.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate a variety of auxiliary binding machines with multiple heads and attachments.
• Set up automatic bindery machines with multiple functions to produce finished books, catalogs, or magazines.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues and ensure proper operation.
• Possibly operate perfect binders and related finishing stations.
• Coordinate multiple work stations on a single machine and guide the crew through production.
• Monitor quality, output and productivity throughout shifts.
