Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Railroad Services, Inc. (GRSI) seeks an experienced accounting leader to supervise capital accounting, grant accounting, and project billing within the finance team. You will ensure accurate budgeting, asset management, and compliance with internal controls.

The role involves supporting external reporting, audits, and due diligence for potential mergers. Collaboration across departments and staff development are key aspects of the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required or CPA/MBA preferred.
• Seven to ten years of related accounting experience; US public-company experience preferred.
• Experience in transportation or railroad industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Execute and/or manage capital accounting functions including budgeting, forecasting, fixed asset transactions, account reconciliations, and adherence to internal controls.
• Support external reporting processes, including the annual audit and quarterly reviews of the consolidated financial statements.
• Continually assess effectiveness and efficiency of accounting operations and implement improvements with metrics.
• Support the company’s mergers-and-acquisitions activities, including due diligence and integration of accounting processes.
• Support internal audit activities within sphere of influence.
• Train and supervise staff; manage other projects as assigned.
