Job summary

The Judge Group in Chicago, IL is seeking a BI Engineer to transform a semantic model into a scalable data warehouse and deliver impactful dashboards. You will own BI development from data modeling to reporting, collaborating daily with Data Engineering, QA, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable analytics.

This role focuses on storytelling with data, performance tuning, and applying ML/AI concepts where beneficial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in BI, data engineering, data science, or a related field.
• Strong communication skills—you can explain a gnarly data model to a non-technical stakeholder without losing them.
• Deep expertise in Power BI (or Tableau) and semantic/data modeling.
• Expert-level SQL and solid Python skills.
• Hands-on experience with ETL pipelines and best practices.
• Comfort with Git and version control workflows.
• Working knowledge of ML/AI concepts—bonus points if you’ve applied them in BI environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop visuals that tell stories quickly and load fast.
• Tune SQL queries for complex business logic.
• Ensure reports are accurate, reliable, and perform like a well-oiled machine.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to shape pipelines and processes that feed analytics with clean data.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and help optimize the warehouse as it evolves.
• Engage with stakeholders, run trainings, and translate business requirements into scalable solutions.
