Job summary

Estrada Consulting, Inc. seeks a Senior IBM Cognos / Power BI Developer to migrate 1,500 Cognos reports to Power BI and support a move from on-premises SQL Server reporting to Azure cloud services. You will analyze, validate, and optimize reporting logic while delivering robust BI solutions.

The role requires deep Cognos and Power BI expertise, SQL/T-SQL skills, and experience with Azure SQL or cloud BI migrations. Remote or hybrid TBD in a long-term contract setup.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics and Framework Manager.
• Advanced Microsoft Power BI experience, including Power BI Desktop, Report Server, and Power BI Service.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL development skills.
• Demonstrated experience migrating reports from IBM Cognos to Power BI.
• Experience developing SQL views, complex queries, reporting data models, and dashboards.
• Experience with Azure SQL databases, Azure data warehousing, or cloud-based BI migrations.
• Python development experience for data processing and automation.
• Strong troubleshooting, testing, data reconciliation, and performance optimization skills.
• Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, inventory, and migrate IBM Cognos reports to Microsoft Power BI Report Server.
• Extract, validate, and convert existing SQL queries and reporting logic.
• Develop Power BI reports, dashboards, SQL views, and optimized data models.
• Support IBM Cognos Framework Manager models and troubleshoot reporting issues.
• Assist with migration of on-premises reporting and SQL data models to Microsoft Azure.
• Perform data validation, report reconciliation, performance tuning, and quality assurance.
• Develop Python-based processes to support data processing and reporting activities.
• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to gather reporting requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, data dictionaries, entity relationship diagrams, and knowledge transfer materials.
