Job summary

Gilder Search Group is seeking a Staff BESS Electrical Design Engineer (EPC) in Nevada to lead utility-scale lithium-ion storage projects from sizing through construction. You will serve as SME and Electrical Engineer of Record, designing AC/DC systems and coordinating with utilities for interconnection and compliance.

The role requires ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering education, a Nevada PE license or reciprocity, and 5+ years in solar or energy storage with BESS focus.

Qualifications

• BSEE/BSEET with ABET accreditation or MS in Electrical Engineering.
• Active PE license (Nevada or reciprocity-eligible) with licensure in NV and SC within 2 months.
• 5+ years in solar, energy storage, or microgrids, with focus on BESS.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering for utility-scale BESS—system sizing, layout, and design through construction.
• Design AC/DC systems using MV transformers, inverters, DC combiners, energy managers, and battery modules; specify long-lead equipment.
• Develop schematics, single-lines, wiring diagrams, raceway/ grounding plans, and protection strategies.
• Interface with utilities/ISO/RTOs on interconnection, permitting, and compliance; lead NEC 705/706, IEEE 1547, UL9540 reviews.
• Perform short circuit, load flow, arc flash, and coordination studies for AC/DC systems.
• Serve as Electrical Engineer of Record; coordinate civil/structural/SCADA teams into IFC packages.
• Lead R&D on MV-DC distribution for BESS integration; provide construction administration and QA/QC.
• Estimate costs, manage schedules, and mentor junior engineers.
