Job summary

MiconeStaffing is seeking a Staff BESS Electrical Design Engineer (EPC) for utility-scale storage projects in Carson City, NV. You will own electrical design from sizing to commissioning, serving as Electrical Engineer of Record and BESS SME.

The role requires 5+ years in storage, active NE 705/706/IEEE 1547/UL 9540 knowledge, and PE licensure. Expect collaboration with civil, structural, SCADA and geotech teams across projects.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering with ABET accreditation.
• Active PE license in Nevada or reciprocity-eligible; NV licensure within 2 months.
• 5+ years in solar, energy storage or microgrids, with 3+ years in BESS design.
• Proven BESS interconnection and regulatory compliance track record.
• Strong NEC 705/706, IEEE 1547, UL 9540, NFPA 855 knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead utility-scale BESS electrical engineering from concept through construction.
• Design AC/DC systems; specify and procure long-lead equipment.
• Develop schematics, single-lines, wiring, raceways, grounding, protection.
• Specify breakers, contactors, fuses, disconnects, EPO, metering.
• Interface with utilities/ISO for interconnection studies and permits.
• Lead code compliance and brief internal teams on NEC/IEEE/NFPA standards.
• Run short-circuit, load-flow, arc-flash studies across AC/DC systems.
• Serve as Electrical Engineer of Record on assigned projects.
• Coordinate multi-discipline teams into IFC packages; support construction QA/QC.
• Prepare estimates/schedules; mentor juniors; develop design standards.
