Job summary

City of Richmond seeks a Benefits & Wellness Specialist to lead the administration of employee benefit programs, ensuring eligibility accuracy, compliance, and timely service. The role focuses on ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, vendor management, data analysis, and process improvement, leveraging Excel and benefits systems to support employees and control costs.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to handle complex cases, and the communication skills to educate employees

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HR experience, with 3 years in employee benefits.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Manage benefits plans in accordance with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA and laws.
• Oversee health, dental, disability, life and wellness programs.
• Analyze benefits data and recommend cost-saving changes.
• Provide benefits information sessions and respond to inquiries.
• Lead benefits team and coordinate with vendors.
• Ensure accurate reporting and data integrity.
