Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a Principal Battery Systems Engineer to steer the technical direction for the Battery Systems product line. You will own the roadmap across concurrent development cycles, set engineering standards, and represent the product engineering externally to vendors and certifying bodies.

You will mentor engineers, drive high‑stakes design reviews, and push next‑generation moves in higher voltage classes and new chemistries, while traveling for FATs and customer engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field. MS preferred.
• 10+ years of hands‑on engineering experience in BESS, power electronics, UPS, or similar.
• Owned multiple product development cycles end-to-end in senior technical roles.
• Architecture-level decision authority in BESS or DC equipment.
• Deep skills in detailed component sizing and protection schemes.
• Fluency in producing and reviewing SLDs, GAs, schematics, and panel layouts; CAD proficiency.
• Willing to travel up to 25–30% for FAT inspections and site engagements.

Responsibilities

• Set architecture for battery systems and own technical roadmaps across cycles.
• Make trade-off calls on cost vs reliability and standardization vs customization.
• Define engineering standards, design rules and review gates; own the bar.
• Approve major design changes and act as final technical authority.
