Job summary

Proterra is seeking an experienced design engineer to provide design-focused support for battery products in production. You will lead investigations, create design updates, and manage ECO changes across a high-mix product line, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in product development with emphasis on failure analysis.
• 3D CAD design and 2D drafting (CATIA preferred) incl. GD&T.
• Knowledge of high/low volume manufacturing methods and equipment.
• Detail oriented with SME capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigations to identify and implement engineering solutions for design issues using CATIA 3DX.
• Develop technical project plans and schedules for engineering activities meeting SOP requirements.
• Create and support documentation and reporting (NCRs, SDRs, ECRs).
• Write and coordinate ECO approvals and ensure design changes are implemented in production.
• Manage BOM generation and revisions for high-mix product lines.
• Collaborate with QA, manufacturing, and suppliers on issues and trials.
• Provide DFA/DFM feedback and assist in DFMEA, DOEs, and validation protocols.
