Job summary

Mapt in California is seeking a Senior Manager for Battery Design Engineering to lead hands-on battery module and pack development across mechanical, electrical, thermal, and safety domains. You will work closely with product and program teams, balance architecture trade-offs, and guide the team from concept to production.

You will hire and mentor a small engineering team, set design standards, perform DFMEA, DVP&R, and design reviews, and ensure fast, safe, and scalable delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 7+ years in battery pack/module design and development.
• Deep expertise in battery system architecture and safety.
• Advanced CAD proficiency and design detail engagement.
• Strong understanding of DFM across manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Design battery module and pack architecture with cell integration and thermal management.
• Lead architecture trade-offs on energy density, weight, thermal, cost, and safety.
• Run DFMEA, DVP&R, design releases, and homologation with hands-on analysis.
• Set design standards and cadences ensuring safety and quality in rapid iterations.
• Prototype, test, debug, and iterate hardware with the team.
• Guide battery systems roadmap in coordination with product priorities.
• Coordinate milestones across mechanical, electrical, thermal, and structural workstreams.
• Lead and develop a small battery engineering team; hands-on leadership.
