Job summary

Proterra is seeking an experienced Design Engineer in Greer, SC to lead investigations and implement design improvements for battery products in production. You will use CATIA 3DExperience to create and modify data, develop technical plans, and manage ECOs, NCRs, SDRs, and ECRs while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a BS in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in product development, failure analysis, and 3D/2D CAD design.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering; 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in a product development environment with emphasis on failure analysis.
• 3D CAD design and 2D drafting (CATIA preferred) including GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a design engineering representative for all battery products in production.
• Lead investigations to identify and implement engineering solutions to design issues, utilizing Catia 3DExperience (3DX) to create/modify design data (3D and 2D).
• Develop technical project plans and schedules; meet design control and SOP requirements.
• Create and support NCRs, SDRs, and ECRs; write and coordinate ECO approvals; ensure design changes are implemented in production.
• Manage BOM generation/revisions for a high-mix variant product line.
• Attend MRB and guide material disposition.
• Collaborate with quality and manufacturing for first-article inspections, line trials, and pilot builds.
• Provide DFA/DFM feedback and assist in development of design specs, FMEAs, DOEs, and verification protocols.
• Work with suppliers to troubleshoot issues and assess cost/timing impacts of changes.
