Job summary

ERG is seeking a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician to support facilities projects at NSF Indian Head, MD. The role covers HVAC control systems installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and low‑voltage controls.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of BAS experience, reads schematics, holds EPA refrigerant certification, and can obtain DoD SECRET clearance. On-site work with ERG teammates nationwide is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience without a license or certification or 2 years of experience if licensed/certified.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings and digital graphic logic.
• EPA Refrigerant Reclamation and Recovery Certification.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) required.
• Familiarity with state and local building codes and OSHA regulations a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations.
• Must pass a pre‑employment physical exam.
• Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Support the full life cycle of small‑scale projects from initial concept design through project completion.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on facilities and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, digital controls, and other mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with facilities and equipment, and repair or replace defective parts as needed.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests.
• Conduct site visits to document existing facility conditions and develop new requirements.
• Prepare technical memoranda/reports to document facility conditions and project status.
• Ensure that all facilities follow applicable codes and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records related to maintenance activities and administrative tasks, including work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, and time sheets.
