Job summary

LONG Building Technologies in Fairbanks, AK, is seeking a Senior Controls Technician to troubleshoot, program and support temperature control systems on projects. You will lead junior team members, ensure commissioning and warranty procedures, and advise on best practices in a demanding field environment.

You will perform installation, programming, and energy conservation tasks, coordinate with project teams, and provide technical expertise to maximize system efficiency while upholding LONG

Qualifications

• 2 years tech school and 3–5 years of start-up, checkout, and service experience in temperature control systems.
• Certifications in KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell and other equivalent systems.
• Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.
• Expert programming and troubleshooting skills for control systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and take accountability.

Responsibilities

• Program databases for all supported systems per sequences of operation and manufacturer recommendations.
• Calibrate and check-out control systems to meet commissioning obligations.
• Create project graphics and deliver GUIs per LONG standards and documents.
• Instruct customer personnel on operation and maintenance of temperature control systems.
• Update drawings and maintain as-built records; submit redlines to engineers.
• Identify additional sales potential and solicit service contracts during startup and training tasks.
• Provide guidance to controls technicians on jobsites and roles.
• Work independently to complete tasks on the jobsite.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across project sequences.
• Guide technicians in programming project databases and calibrations per standards.
