Job summary

Northern Trust Corp is seeking an experienced attorney to provide high-quality legal advice to senior management and business partners in the Banking and Markets Group. The role covers private wealth, commercial credit, regulatory matters, and policy development, with expected collaboration across the Legal Department and outside counsel.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in financial institutions, a JD from an accredited law school, and must meet licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience at a national law firm or in-house advising financial institutions.
• JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in the applicable jurisdiction.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills for secured and unsecured loan documents.

Responsibilities

• Advise on private client and commercial loan matters, structuring and negotiating loans.
• Counsel on banking regulations, products, deposits and payments.
• Support regulatory compliance and legal policy development for the bank.
• Provide legal analysis and solutions-oriented advice to business partners.
• Coordinate with outside counsel as needed and assist in risk management initiatives.
