Job summary

Old National Bank's Legal and Government Relations Department seeks an experienced Senior Counsel to provide day-to-day legal support to business lines, branch operations, deposits, payments and treasury matters across our footprint.

The role emphasizes strategic partnership, regulatory compliance, and advising management, with a compensation range of $200k–$230k plus bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10–15 years' experience practicing law in a legal department of a financial institution or major law firm serving financial institutions.
• Admitted to practice and in good standing with the bar in states within our footprint; preference for IL/IN/MN.
• Ability to apply sound legal analysis and practical business judgment to legal matters with a solutions-oriented approach.
• Ability to consult with and advise Bank management at all levels.
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support to business lines and operational areas on general banking and regulatory matters, including branch operations and treasury functions.
• Respond to inquiries from the bank's help desk and operations areas with timely, clear legal guidance.
• Review, analyze and draft customer agreements and disclosures to ensure compliance with law and bank policies.
• Advise on compliance with federal and state banking laws across the bank's footprint; support 50-state reviews as needed.
• Provide counsel on privacy, data protection and emerging technologies, including AI.
