Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking a Backend Systems Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale distributed backend services powering mission-critical workloads. You will architect core platforms enabling other engineering teams, with focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and clean engineering practices.

The ideal candidate has deep CS fundamentals, hands-on experience with distributed systems at scale, and can balance consistency, availability, and latency while delivering

Qualifications

• Six or more years of professional backend engineering experience, with distributed systems.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Go, Scala, or similar.
• Distributed systems concepts, including consensus, replication, and CAP trade-offs.
• Hands-on experience with high-throughput message systems such as Kafka.
• Experience operating systems at scale, including capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with both relational and NoSQL data stores.
• Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and mentorship skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement large-scale distributed backend systems.
• Architect data partitioning, replication, and consistency strategies.
• Build resilient APIs and event-driven services with observability, idempotency, and graceful Degradation patterns.
• Optimize systems for latency, throughput, and cost, using profiling and load testing.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and trade-off analyses.
• Implement robust failure-handling patterns including retries, timeouts, circuit breakers, bulkheads, and saga workflows.
• Design and operate data stores at scale, including relational, key-value, document, and search engines.
• Build comprehensive observability into services with structured logs, metrics, and distributed tracing.
• Drive incident response and post-incident learning for critical backend services.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and lead by example in code quality and operational rigor.
• Partner with SRE and platform teams to drive reliability improvements.
• Contribute to long-term architecture and platform strategy with multi-year roadmaps.
