Job summary

Coframe in San Francisco is seeking a Backend System Architect to design and run the core backend services powering the platform. The role involves owning projects end-to-end, building data-intensive systems, and delivering reliable production software in a high-growth setting.

You’ll work closely with founders, product engineers, and AI teams to translate complex requirements into scalable platform capabilities and maintain high reliability and latency targets.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building and operating backend systems in production.
• Comfort in a fast-moving startup environment with evolving requirements.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python or another modern backend language.
• Experience building APIs, services, databases, and asynchronous workflows.
• Track record of owning technical projects from conception to production.
• Good judgment on system design, reliability, and tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable backend services, APIs.
• Own technical projects from architecture through production deployment.
• Build systems that process large volumes of events and data.
• Improve interoperability, reliability, performance, and observability.
• Make architectural decisions balancing speed, simplicity, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product and customer teams to translate needs into platform capabilities.
• Help establish engineering standards and technical foundations.
