Placements24 partners with a leading cloud solutions innovator to recruit a Senior Backend Software Engineer for our East London, Eastern Cape, ZA office. The role blends remote work with in-person collaboration and focuses on building scalable backend services and APIs using modern languages.

You will design, develop, deploy, and optimize services, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to architecture and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional backend software development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one major backend language (Python, Java, Go, Node.js).
• Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with microservices and RESTful API design.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines is desirable.
