Job summary

Koop is seeking an experienced software engineer to own end-to-end development, from design to deployment, with a focus on security compliance and risk management. You will work on AI-native software, microservices, and cloud-native stacks in a fast-growing insurance platform.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on development in Go or Java, strong experience with Kubernetes and AWS, and a founder mindset. In-person work in the Greater NYC Area is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing complex software applications.
• Experience with Go or Java, and willingness to learn both.
• Experience with NoSQL databases.
• Experience building microservices in Kubernetes, AWS ECS/EKS/Fargate, or other containers.
• Desire to learn the latest software development practices in real product environments.

• Design application architectures, make difficult technical decisions with tradeoffs.
• Touch every aspect of software engineering: from ideas to requirements, implementation, deployment and testing.

• Over 5 years of experience developing complex software applications
• Experience with AI-native software development (Claude, Codex)
• Experience with Go or Java, desire to learn and use both
• Experience with NoSQL databases
• Experience building microservices in Kubernetes, AWS ECS/EKS/Fargate, or other container frameworks
• Desire to learn the latest software development practices and apply them in real product development
• Founder mindset, tremendous work ethic, and excellent written/verbal skills

Bonus:
