Job summary

Redo in Draper, Utah is seeking a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer focused on security to design and build secure backend services in TypeScript. You will own production systems and influence security decisions across the engineering org.

You will work on identity, authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure defaults, mentoring engineers and helping raise the security bar while collaborating with multiple teams.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering, backend-focused.
• Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills.
• Experience designing and shipping internal libraries, middleware, SDKs or platform APIs.
• Ownership of production services end-to-end, including monitoring and reliability.
• Solid grasp of security fundamentals and building secure systems.
• Ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems and influence others.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy and operate production backend services and libraries in TypeScript.
• Build shared security platforms and patterns adopted by engineering teams.
• Own services in production, including monitoring, alerting and reliability.
• Create guardrails and secure defaults to help engineers ship securely.
• Partner with engineering teams across the company and raise the security bar.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership on secure design.
