Job summary

Wrike is seeking a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer in the Backend Reliability (BRE) team to architect core reliability solutions that scale, perform, and recover from failure. You will lead design and ownership of critical reliability components and collaborate with global engineering teams.

You will work with Java/JVM, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, and message brokers, applying strong problem-solving and independent work style in a hybrid, international environment.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and building scalable backend services in Java/JVM.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, high availability, CAP, and fault tolerance.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Experience with containerized, cloud-native environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Strong written and spoken English for international collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliability components (e.g., rate limiters, caching, schema migrations).
• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize PostgreSQL usage, ensure performance under load.
• Lead preliminary incident investigations and propose mitigations for long-term fixes.
• Create scalable tools and frameworks for other engineering teams.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to accelerate development and architecture analysis.
• Mentor engineers and promote reliability best practices across teams.
