Job summary

Harvey is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Backend Platform team, shaping the foundations and core abstractions that power our enterprise-grade platform. You will hire and develop engineers, define the technical direction, and ensure scalable, secure systems that product teams rely on every day.

You’ll partner with Infrastructure, Security, and product groups to deliver architecture, improve reliability, and drive adoption across Harvey’s growing engineering organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of building backend or platform systems.
• 3+ years of engineering management experience leading teams.
• Strong judgment in backend architecture, distributed systems, caching, API design, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Backend Platform team, hiring and coaching engineers.
• Define the platform’s technical vision and roadmap with product partners.
• Build and evolve shared frameworks for database access, caching, session management, and observability.
• Scale data layer and architecture to support growth and reliability.
• Ensure security and reliability through architectural safeguards and collaboration with security teams.
