Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Six or more years of professional backend or platform engineering experience.
• Experience building and operating internal platforms or shared services used by multiple teams.
• Strong design of distributed systems with emphasis on consistency, availability, latency, and failure modes.
• Proficiency in Java, Go, Scala, Rust, or modern C++.
• Deep understanding of high-throughput messaging, streaming, and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pulsar, NATS).
• Knowledge of relational, key-value, document, and search storage systems.
• Experience leading multi-quarter platform initiatives and decision-making.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to author design docs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate foundational platforms and shared services for multiple teams.
• Develop backend platform capabilities: routing, traffic management, data fan-out, caching, async jobs, durable event processing.
• Ensure high traffic volumes with predictable latency and low operational toil.
• Mentor engineers and influence engineering culture through code and design reviews.
